                            American Girl Movie Review: McKenna Shoots for the Stars 

Hi everyone and today I am going to be reviewing McKenna Shoots for the Stars movie:

Plot: McKenna Brooks is at Shooting Stars gymnastics and does a back handspring on the beam. Coach  Isabelle  tells McKenna that she should not do the back handspring as it is too advanced for her. McKenna says that she only wants to impress the judges at the Gymnastics Competition. McKenna says she wants to go to the 2016 Summer Rio Olympics. McKenna to work it out slowly with the gymnastics and the judges will like McKenna's Gymnastics without the back handspring. McKenna then goes over to where her friend Toulane is. Then Toulane tells McKenna her Back Handspring on the beam was amazing. McKenna and Toulane then talk about how they want to get into the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics and how Toulane will be on the podium with her gold, and McKenna next to her with her silver. McKenna says it will be the other way around. Their goal is to make to the regional competitive team.  A girl named Sierra near McKenna and Toulane falls down while doing some gymnastics. They say that she won't be good at the competition and also comment about a girl from another team who is generally considered the best and who they feel is pretty much sure to get one of the three spots on the regional competitive team. Then McKenna's Grandma comes to the gym to pick McKenna up with Maisey and Mara who are McKenna's twin sisters. Toulane's mom later comes to pick up Toulane and tells Toulane that she needs to work on her floor routine. Toulane says she is really trying the floor routine. Then her mom says that it would help if she did not fool around at gymnastics practice so much. Toulane says she is sorry and her mom replies with saying that this is important if she doesn't make it into the regional completive team then she won't get a chance to become an elite gymnast like Toulane's sister. Toulane says she knows and will try harder at gymnastics. At home everyone is eating dinner and Mr. Brooks who is her dad says that he was able to secure a great camping site for this year's camping trip. Everyone claps and cheers. Mr. Brooks tells McKenna to remind Toulane that it is going to be on first weekend in June and Toulane can come and it would not be an annul camping trip without Toulane. Her dad then asks McKenna's mom Ms.Brooks how was the coffee shop today and she reply's that it was great and there was a line in the coffee shop all morning. And then Ms.Brooks then says for Maisey to stop feeding chicken to their dog Cooper and the twins laugh. Then McKenna's mom says that the guitar player she hired for the Music Mondays at her coffee shop never came on his first day and then McKenna's dad Mr.Brooks says that her could play the guitar with his old rock band. Ms.Brooks says thank you for the offer but Mr. Brooks rock band will just scare the coffee shop costumers away. And then Mr.Brooks starts pretend playing a guitar and McKenna's mom Ms.Brooks tells everyone to plug their ears because of this very loud music. Mrs. Brooks tells Maisey and Mara to go to their room, while she and Mr. Brooks talk to McKenna. When the twins leave, Mr. and Mrs. Brooks explain that Mr. Wu Emailed them. McKenna says that she can explain that it was an accident when she fed the class pet Guinea pig a French fry. Her parents tell Mckenna that is not the reason why he emailed them. The reason was because McKenna's grades are slipping. Mr. Wu is concerned about McKenna's grades and he recommended that she get a reading tutor from the Middle school . McKenna's parents believe that she's spending too much time on gymnastics and not enough time on school. McKenna refuses and promises to bring her grades up as there's going to be a science quiz the next day. She starts to read the science book but doesn't understand it and stops reading the book. The next day McKenna goes to school and there is a class science test she is nervous and she then she cheats on the test by looking at the other girl Sierra's test because Sierra had straight A's on the report card. McKenna then gets caught by Mr. Wu who gives her a zero on the test and tells McKenna's Parents. Her parents find out and McKenna's grounded and they tell her that Mr.Wu thinks McKenna has a problem with reading comprehension. Because of McKenna cheating on a test and her problem with reading comprehension her parents tell McKenna she has to get a tutor or else she will have to quit gymnastics. And then they also tell McKenna that there is even a name for this: The 4th Grade Slump and also that "School comes first not gymnastics". And to stay in Gymnastics McKenna agrees to get a tutor. And her dad says that he will discuss a punishment for cheating with McKenna's Mom later. At school the next day she meets Josie who is a girl in a wheelchair. Josie tells McKenna to have a seat and that she could see form the papers Mr.Wu sent her that McKenna has bee having some reading problems. They begin reading and Josie asking questions about the book she tells McKenna to read. McKenna says she used to love to read. And Josie adds " But Not anymore". McKenna sees Sierra and ducks behind the table. McKenna says that she just dropped her pencil and also will already be late for the Gymnastics and she asks Josie if they can start. Josie says that "I have a flute lesson after this so lets make the most of our time". Josie and McKenna begin reading and Josie askes McKenna questions about the book passage McKenna reads.

What was good: I loved McKenna's clothes throughout the movie and that she does gymnastics and gymnastics looks so cool. Sadly I don't do and never did any gymnastics. I also liked that McKenna's dog Cooper has the same name as my American girl doll's dog Cooper.  This movie is actually my second favorite movie and my first favorite movie is Grace Stirs up Success.

What was not good: I liked everything and there was nothing bad.
